NPI is a member of the Phoenix group of companies. The Phoenix Group is a specialist owner/manager of long-term savings and investment portfolios which also includes Pearl, Phoenix, London Life and Scottish Mutual International. The group has 7.65 million policies in force (as at 30 June 2009), and assets of around £66 billion. Its asset management company Ignis has around £71 billion funds under management (as at 30 November 2009).

As part of The Phoenix Group, NPI also provides access to a range of financial products including car, home and travel insurance; and commercial insurance for your business.

* NPI now includes the closed life funds of Pearl Assurance (Unit Funds) Limited, Pearl Assurance (Unit Linked Pensions) Limited and London Life Linked Assurances Limited following the transfer of business to them from other Group companies on 1 October 2006. A fund is defined as ‘closed’ if no new policies are being sold, ie. it is closed to new business. In the UK, there are approximately 70 closed life funds with a value of more than £290 billion, amounting to one fifth of the long-term insurance sector.
